Here’s Your First Look At Detroit Zoo’s Discover Trails Experience
The Detroit Zoo is one of the coolest places in the entire state, as one of the fuses that we have between the upper and lower peninsula. Over the past decade, they’ve made many restorations and upgrades to many of the animal enclosures that are bringing more comfort to the animals and a better viewing experience to the people who visit. I would say the first big renovation that they made was the Arctic Ring of Life, which is now nearly 24 years old.
But even within the last 10 years, there have been renovations to the tiger sanctuary, the red panda exhibit, and the Polk Penguin Conservation Center. It’s now been announced that there is a new attraction coming to the zoo which will make the visiting experience more inclusive than ever.

The new attraction is called Discovery Trails and is a $20 million project which is slated to be finished in time for the peak visiting time period in 2026. Below we have a gallery with your sneak peak to what can be expected.
In a video published on Facebook, Dr. Hayley W. Murphy, the Executive Director and CEO of the Detroit Zoological Society announced and detailed this incredible addition to a growing and evolving Detroit Zoo, saying:
At the Detroit Zoological Society, our mission is simple but powerful: to create meaningful connections between people, animals, and the neutral world so all can thrive. For more than a century we've achieved this through unique experiences and programs that have reached millions, conservation work on all 7 continents, and advocacy that is igniting positive change far and wide. Today we are preparing to bring this mission to life, in a new and exciting way.
