
West Michigan Teen Fisherman Snags Championship Gold In Africa
A West Michigan teenager who has a passion for fishing just won a big tournament that took place in South Africa: 19-year-old Colton Dickerson

19 year old Colton Dickerson from Zeeland, Michigan was one of 15 members on the U.S Youth Bass Team that competed in the Tri Nations Bass Fishing Tournament at Loskop Dam.
The competition featured the best junior anglers from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the USA in a 3 day international competition.

Colton Dickerson helped team USA in a big way.
During the competition he was able to catch 9 bass, the biggest one weighed in at an incredible 8.5lbs.
Dickerson shared with Fox 17 that his passion for fishing comes from his father and grandfather who would take him on fishing trips.
In middle school he started to do competition fishing and continued throughout high school.
Dickerson plans on continuing his passion for fishing while attending college.
Southwestern Michigan College offered him a full ride scholarship.
When he's not studying mechatronics and robotics, he will be competing in college fishing competitions.
