We're always sad to see some of our favorite food spots go. Here are some of the restaurants we said goodbye to in 2022 in the greater Grand Rapids area that will be sorely missed.

Olga's Kitchen (Woodland Mall Location)

The Reason: The owners of Olga's Kitchen issued a statement in October saying "the decision to move this location was thoughtfully determined, and we are committed to the greater Grand Rapids area as well as the continued revitalization of the Olga’s Kitchen brand. We encourage guests to visit us at our Olga’s Fresh Grille located on Alpine Avenue in Comstock Park."

Bombay Cuisine (Eastown)

The Reason: Bombay Cuisine closed their doors in late September. According to a post on their facebook page, "The decision to close down was not an easy one but, due to the owners retirement, it is necessary. We have provided quality Indian food for 25 years in Eastown...Thank you for your loyal patronage over the years. We truly appreciate all of your business."

The Reason: Owners say that while Harmony Hall is closing this specific location, it's to make room for bigger and better things. However, they've moved a lot of their events to their Eastown location until the new hall opens.

Mayan Buzz Cafe (Downtown location)

The Reason: Owners announced on July 25th that the downtown location would be suddenly closing, leaving employees and customers blindsided by the location's ending. Rumors that they couldn't afford the rent swirled, but you can still get your fix in Grandville.

The Reason: This location didn't close due to lack of business, but rather a car crash that was out of their control taking out the front of the dining room. While the accident happened in April, they didn't announce their closure for another 6 months.

The Reason: After 115 years, the family behind Moelker Orchard decided they wanted to hang up their hat and get away from the business. However, this one may have a happy ending. In early 2023 they plan to put the business up for sale, so we may see new ownership and opened doors again one day.

The Reason: Weirdly, there isn't one. The location just closed one day, and people started to notice online. They never posted a reason or official statement, so we're all just left wondering and missing them.

The Reason: They announced at the start of the year the company would be permanently closing this location and selling off all of the awesome memorabilia they had on the walls. While no official cause of closure was announced, business and staffing were most likely the culprits.

Adobe In & Out (Leonard St location)

The Reason: This is one of three locations, so they aren't gone forever. They did cite at the time that they closed their doors due to staffing issues, saying they couldn't keep the location going to the quality they'd like to offer.

Brick Road Pizza

The Reason: After 13 years, they closed their doors just after the start of the new year. They told customers they were "heartbroken" to close their doors, but even with the height of their business coming in 2019, they couldn't survive the business lost during the pandemic.
