The Kent County Department of Public Works put together a helpful holiday recycling guide so you know what to do with all of your holiday items after you're done with them.

Christmas Trees, Wreaths & Garland

These items are not recyclable but can be reused or donated.

Live trees are compostable through many area composters and yard waste services.

Wrapping Paper and Gift Bags

Wrapping paper and gift bags are not recyclable due to glitter and heavy inks and dyes; however, plain kraft paper can be recycled.

Holiday Lights

These lights are recyclable ONLY at special collection dropoffs.

Styrofoam

Lots of holiday gifts are protected by styrofoam and bubble wrap.

These items are recyclable at special drop-off locations.

Batteries

Rechargeable or button batteries should be brought to a SafeChem location.

Alkaline batteries should be taped and then placed in the trash.
