Michigan’s Upper Peninsula – Where You Need a Snowblower to Clear Off Your Roof
Michigan's Upper Peninsula has seen a brutal winter, which is great for tourism and those who love outdoor winter fun.
But, for those who live in the U.P., it can cause some snow removal headaches. This Yooper may have found the perfect hack.

The Keweenaw Peninsula, Michigan's northernmost point, is no stranger to snowfall. This year they've already seen 227.75 inches of snow (that's nearly 19 feet!)
And the hardy Yoopers that call the Keweenaw home don't let a little bit of snow get them down.
While I've seen many a Yooper use things like roof rakes to get snow off of their roofs in the past, I think this is the first time that I've seen this. (If you're interested in a roof rake, Bob Vila reviewed them so you don't have to.)

When I first came across these pictures on Facebook, I had some questions. Mostly, how in the world did they get that snowblower all the way up on the roof?

Depending on the size, snowblowers can weigh anywhere from 100 to 200 pounds. But Yoopers are a determined bunch, and this guy is no exception. I think his name is Jonathan, and I tip my Stormy Kromer to him.
Jesse happened to be driving around Calumet the other day when he spotted this and HAD to snap a photo. The text that accompanied his post on social media was perfection:
Only in the U.P.
More specifically, Calumet. - Jesse A. via Facebook
In the comments, Ashley chimed in and said that the ingenious Yooper in the photo was none other than her husband. And there's a story behind both the snowblower and why he decided to lug it up on the roof.
My husband's uncle passed just recent and for years he said to get snow blower up there and it get done alot quicker!! That was his snow blower and I was upset that I didn't take no pics cuz he would of proud of us! Definitely means alot. - Ashley L. via Facebook
Ashley also said that getting the snowblower on the roof wasn't as hard as people may think. (Though I think, personally, that I'll stick to the roof rake...)
