What Is Opening The Door Campaign About
The goal is to make parents and kids aware that things like social media, messaging apps, and gaming platforms can be like "opening a door" into a child's private life, making them vulnerable to predators.
The main goal of this campaign is to educate parents, caregivers, and children about the dangers of online predatory behavior, such as grooming and sextortion.
The "Opening the Door" campaign focuses on several important things:
Encouraging Conversations: Adults need to have open and ongoing conversations with their kids about online dangers and what to do if they encounter a stranger or an uncomfortable situation.
Providing Resources: There are several resources parents should be aware of including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's (NCMEC) CyberTipline for reporting child sexual exploitation or abuse, and the Michigan ICAC website for educational materials.

These programs are so important.
While these conversations might feel awkward and tough, it is crucial to have them to protect kids from online predators.
