Lowell BBQ Joint Shifting Gears, Transitioning to Deli & Tavern
A much-loved Lowell BBQ restaurant has announced that they are shifting gears and will be transitioning their offerings to more of what "our community truly wants and needs".
The restaurant announced the change on Facebook over the weekend.

Main Street BBQ opened on, you guessed it, Main Street in Lowell back in 2015. Nearly ten years later, the owners say that a change is needed.
According to their post on Facebook, Lowell is now home to three BBQ restaurants, which the owners say is too many for the town of just over 4,100 people.
So, they're changing things up with the hope of better serving their community. The owners say,
We believe this new concept will offer something for everyone and create a warm, inviting atmosphere that you can enjoy with family and friends. - Main Street BBQ
What is Happening to Main Street BBQ in Lowell, Michigan?
Locals don't have to worry that a hole will be left in the Lowell culinary scene. They'll just have a new option. Main Street BBQ will now become Main Street Deli & Tavern.

Can I Still Get Main St. BBQ Food Before They Switch?
Good news if you loved the ribs or brisket at Main Street - you can still get your hands on your favorites for the next little while. The owners say that they'll still operate at Main Street BBQ for a few more weeks before shutting down briefly to transition over to Main Street Deli & Tavern.
Lowell Locals React to Main Street BBQ Switching Gears
While the community is happy that the owners will continue to be a part of their community, many are bummed about the change.
Derek said that he moved to Lowell right around the time that the restaurant opened and has been a loyal customer ever since.
The REAL winner on that menu is your brisket. I haven’t found a place yet that can beat it - and to think it will soon be gone just kills me. - Derek S.
Main Street has become such a staple within the community that it's been a part of people's huge life milestones, like Tracey's:
We loved your BBQ so much that you catered our wedding in 2017 at Fallasburg Park. People are still talking about how good that meal was! - Tracey R.
Others, like Bailey, have specific menu requests,
PLEASE PLEASE keep the mac n cheese balls!!! - Bailey I.
And Serena,
Please don't get rid of your baked beans - Serena P.
It's unclear when the transition to the tavern and deli will be complete, but I'm excited to head to Lowell to try it out when it is.
