Because of their popularity, scammers have created knock offs of the popular toy and it's making it hard for consumers in Michigan to spot the difference.
How To Spot A Fake Labubu
If you're in the market for a Labubu, here is what you need to look for to spot a real one from a knockoff.
The Packaging and Box: Real boxes have a matte, smooth finish with muted or pastel colors.
Fakes are often glossy and have overly bright colors.
Hologram Sticker: Look for a high-quality, holographic POP MART sticker with a QR code.
Fakes may have a cheap-looking hologram with flat or blurry text.
QR Code: The QR code on the box or tag is a key feature, If you don't see one, it's probably a fake.
Printing and Text: Genuine boxes have crisp, clean printing with correct spelling. Misspellings (like "Pob Mart") or blurry, misaligned text are red flags.
The Teeth: A real Labubu figure has exactly nine teeth.
Counterfeits may have more or fewer teeth, or the teeth may be poorly painted, unevenly spaced, or connected.
