West Michigan Restaurant Gets a Surprise Visit from Comedian Gabriel Iglesias

Whenever a famous person is in town, I'm always on the lookout to see if someone saw them eating at popular restaurant, grabbing a drink at a bar or coffee shop.

A few weeks ago Shane Gills did a show at the Van Andel Arena.

Earlier in the day, before his show, he was spotted at Butcher's Union with his family and opening comics, enjoying some food.

On Friday September 6th, another big time comedian was in West Michigan and before their show they stopped at a restaurant for a bite to eat.

Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias performed at the Allegan County Fair on Friday night, but before the show he stopped for a meal at Hawk's Nest Restaurant.

I spoke with Ashley Haskins one of the owners and asked her about their special guest.

Big Joe: Did you know that Gabriel Iglesias was coming or did he just randomly show up?

Ashley Haskins: They called 15 minutes before arriving and let us know.

The driver of the van was from the area and eats at another local restaurant and had been wanting to try our place so the event manager chose us!

Big Joe: What did Fluffy order?

Ashley Haskins: He ordered a chili dog basket, a loaded pork BBQ spud, and a medium twist in a waffle cone.

We are known for our smash burgers and broasted chicken!

Which a few from his team ordered smash burgers!

Big Joe: How was Gabriel and his crew?

Ashley Haskins: The whole crew was amazing to have in.

Fluffy was so chill and was cool to meet!

Kurt Haskins whose also an owner and the cook have watched Gabriel from when he started, and it was so cool to see they chose our small town restaurant!
