Also, the iconic Raggedy Ann doll was first manufactured in Muskegon.

According to Shoreline Media,

"Raggedy Ann, the legendary toy doll, was originally manufactured by the Muskegon-based Non-Breakable Toy Company in 1918. The origins of the doll, however, were first conceived in 1915 by Illinois-based author and illustrator, Johnny Gruelle who wrote the original stories about his daughter Marcella and her doll."

They even celebrated the 100th year of the Raggedy Ann doll back in 2015.

It was originally called Bronson.

According to Awesome Mitten,

"One of the first white settlers of the area, Titus Bronson, named the town in 1831 after himself. He literally was the person who first put this city on the map. Or more so his bad behavior, which got him chased out of town. It was then that residents later renamed the town Kalamazoo in 1836 to reflect the Native American heritage of the city."
