Detroit doesn’t scare easily. It’s a city that has been through some of the worst of the worst. From economic collapse, brutal winters, and decades of fighting for a comeback. So when something promises to deliver “80 minutes of terror” to a crowd of hardened Michiganders, it better be the real deal.

Unfortunately, Insidious: The Further You Fear missed the mark on being scary, and Detroit wasn’t afraid to let them know.

The live show is based on the Insidious horror franchise, and made a stop at the Fisher Theatre last weekend. From what the website read, it was supposed to be an immersive horror experience, but audience members were quick to call it out for what it really was—a bare-bones production that lacked the atmosphere and fear factor fans were expecting.

According to reviews that are now floating around the internet, there were no real sets just actors trying to sell scares with minimal effort. For a franchise that built its reputation on chilling storytelling and eerie visuals, this was a massive letdown.

The response was so shall I dare say, INSIDIOUS that the entire tour has now been called off. According to sources, the show had dates scheduled through June but after Detroit’s rage reviews, ticket sales were pulled and the shows were canceled on their official website. An actor from the production also confirmed it's cancellation.

Hard-working horror fans in Michigan don’t take kindly to being ripped off. If you’re going to bring a horror experience to Motor City, at least make it scary.
