Celebrate Christmas in July This Friday at Garfield Park in Grand Rapids
Some people would celebrate Christmas all year long if you let them. Unfortunately for them, July is the furthest month away from their favorite holiday. Unless you plan to pack up and head over to Frankenmuth, your options for a Christmas in July in Michigan are pretty limited. But, one park in Grand Rapids is throwing a little tinsel up to celebrate Christmas in July this weekend.
While the temperature will be in the 80's this weekend, that doesn't mean you can't bust out your favorite carrols, find some lights, and maybe cut the sleeves off that ugly sweater to celebrate with the rest of the community.
The Grand Rapids African American Arts and Music Festival (GRAAMF) is partnering up with the City of Grand Rapids and other groups to host a festive party at Garfield Park on Friday, July 12th.

This all ages family event doesn't demand you dig out your santa hat, but they do promise to have free food, back to school gifts for kids and teens, community resource booths, and a DJ will be playing music for everyone to enjoy.
So go ahead and get festive, it's totally fine to blast Jingle Bells on your way there. The event will be from 6-8pm Friday night. If you want more details, or to get updates on the event, you can check out their facebook page. Merry (not-quite) Christmas!
