
Austin Murr’s Acrobatic Leap Becomes Instant Whitecaps Classic
The West Michigan Whitecaps have been on fire this year.

They won the first half of the 2025 season, clinching the Midwest League Eastern Division first-half title with a 3-2 victory on June 13, 2025, and finished with a 44-21 record.
That win secured the Whitecaps a playoff berth and was their best first-half in nearly 30 years.

They've done that by making some amazing plays on defense and at the plate with their bat all season long.
A recent game between the Whitecaps and Great Lakes Loons featured an incredible acrobatic play at home plate.
Jackson Strong was batting for the Whitecaps and hit the ball into the outfield giving Austin Murr a chance to score from second base.
The throw from the outfield was perfect and the catcher had the ball and it appeared that he would be able to tag out Murr, but that's not what happened.
Murr came to an almost complete stop before the home plate and was able to hurdle over the Loons catcher and touch home plate to score the go-ahead run.

Then on Thursday September 11th, game two of the Eastern Division Championship will take place at LMCU, this will be the first time the Whitecaps have hosted a playoff game since 2018.
