We're six days into October, but much like Meijer, which already has five aisles dedicated to Christmas decorations, many people are already planning for the "most wonderful time of the year." I think "Spooky Season" still deserves its moment to shine, but I can't really blame anyone. From music to movies, to Christmas lights, and time with the family. There's nothing quite like the holidays.

But the most important piece of the holidays is the Christmas tree. Adorned with ornaments, topped with a star (or whatever you choose to put there), the tree is the silent guardian of the presents, the meeting point for your family, bright and early on Christmas morning.

However, I doubt your Christmas is 68 feet tall like the one that was recently announced to stand outside the Capitol in Lansing.

Meet 2025's State Christmas Tree

While last year's tree was a 60-foot-tall spruce from mid-Michigan, this year's tree will be making the long trek from Sault Ste. Marie. According to the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB), the 68-foot-tall spruce will be harvested on Thursday, October 30th, and begin its long trek downstate.

Upon arrival at the Capitol on the first of November, local Boy Scouts will untie the behemoth tree, and the Hi-Ball Company of Lansing will hoist the tree via crane at the intersection of Capitol and East Michigan avenues. It will then be decorated by the City of Lansing's forestry team, and a tree-lighting ceremony will take place on November 21st.
