AI is bringing things to life that we only saw before in movies like "The Terminator." A Grand Rapids man has built a 'Terminator-style' robot.

The original "The Terminator" movie was released in 1984 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. The movie was about a cybernetic assassin sent from the future to kill Sarah Connor, whose unborn son would one day lead the human resistance against artificial intelligence.

The robots in The Terminator were cybernetic assassins created by an artificial intelligence company called Skynet, which waged war on humanity. The robots have become iconic in the Terminator franchise and have been in the six movies made thus far.

Meet 'Syntaxx', a robot with artificial intelligence that was built in Grand Rapids, which is reminiscent of The Terminator.  You may have seen Syntaxx before since the robot was part of ArtPrize.

According to FOX 17, John Hamilton of Grand Rapids built SYNTAXX with artificial intelligence so he could play music, dance, perform monologues, and provide an endless stream of information, including about himself, which will be shared with his daughter long after he is gone.

Syntaxx was in the top 100 at the 2024 ArtPrize, but has since been upgraded and will return for the 2025 ArtPrize. I will be looking for Syntaxx at the next ArtPrize because I want to ask it some questions to see what happens.
