A 41-year-old Redford man by the name of Shawn A. Maxwell had befriended a 41-year-old homeless man by the name of Jeffrey S. Evans.

There is no word on how Maxwell and Evans became connected or what they were arguing about before the alleged shooting took place. Maxwell was letting Evans stay at the family cabin to help him out. An AR-15 with a suppressor attached was found with blood on it in Maxwell's car but there is no word on who owned the gun.

According to WWJ, after a brief manhunt Jeffery Stephen Evans of Columbiaville was found by police and then later arraigned on 9 charges that include open murder, third-degree killing or torturing an animal, carrying a concealed weapon, plus 2 counts of assaulting and resisting an officer, and four counts of felony firearm charges.

A week ago at a rural cottage in Tuscola County Evans and Maxwell got into an argument that led to the alleged shooting of Maxell and his cat.

Maxwell's brother had reached out to him with no answer and that is when he took it upon himself to travel to the cabin and that is when he discovered his brother and cat dead in the cottage. The brother contacted the Michigan State Police who then began looking for Evans.

Evans's family said he was paranoid and unstable in the days that lead up to the murder.
