When USA Today’s 10Best set out to find the best destination resorts in America, they weren’t looking for just any place with a nice pool and room service. The goal was to spotlight resorts that deliver the whole package: plush accommodations, top-notch dining, and activities that make you forget you ever needed to leave the property. Travel experts narrowed it down to 20 incredible destinations across the country, and then readers had the final say to determine the top ten.

One Michigan favorite made the cut! And if you’ve spent any time on Mackinac Island, you can probably guess which one.

It’s the Grand Hotel, the iconic Victorian-era resort that has been welcoming guests since 1887.

The property officially ranked No. 7 Best Destination Resort in the U.S., earning praise for its individually designed rooms, sweeping Lake Huron views, and that famous front porch—the longest in the world.
