Where Did Michigan’s Bugs And Frogs Go This Year?
Someone recently posted on Reddit about not hearing the crickets and tree frogs, and then others chimed in with their thoughts on where they might be.
Michigan Has its Share of Frogs and Bugs
I live in the country and have a marsh and a swamp that are a part of my property in Newaygo County. I have no shortage of wildlife, frogs, and bugs. Lately, it has been dead silent. I found it odd this past weekend that no frogs were chirping, and no crickets were making sounds, but didn't think much of it.
It was very windy this weekend, and a tree came down, so my son and I took the ATV and trailer to clear it. My son wanted to stop by the culverts so he could catch some frogs, but there weren't any. This was strange since normally, several frogs are usually in the water.

Michigan’s Bugs and Frogs Are Missing—Here’s Why
I wasn't the only one who had noticed the frogs and bugs were not making any noise this past weekend. I was thumbing through the Grand Rapids Reddit page, and a poster mentioned the same thing about the frogs and crickets. Several users chimed in. Here's what they said about the missing critters.
The first poster made a good point about the heat disrupting normal habits, like people, bugs, frogs, and animals have to conserve energy under extreme weather conditions.

This poster is a bit blunt, but it gets to the point on why wildlife has been silent for the past few days.
The rain we are going to get should help cool things down and get the frogs and crickets back to making some noise in the evening.
