Just like there are albino people, there are albino animals, such as an albino deer. The term "albino" specifically refers to the lack of pigment in the animal's fur, eyes, and skin. An albino deer will appear pale and have pink eyes.

Albino deer are extremely rare, with estimates suggesting that only about 1 in 20,000 to 30,000 white-tailed deer are true albinos. I have only seen one in the wild, but someone had put an orange band around its neck in hopes that hunters would not harvest the deer.

Another type of white-tailed deer is called a piebald, due to a mutation in cells responsible for pigment production, resulting in a spotted or patchy pattern, but has brown eyes instead of pink.

I have seen several piebald deer while hunting, but not an albino deer. The one albino deer I saw, who was wearing the orange collar, was not far from my hunting area while driving.
