Michigan: Amazing Video of Northern Lights and Meteor Shower
A Kalamazoo man set up a camera and used the time-lapse feature to make an amazing video of the Northern Lights and the Perseids meteor shower.
The Perseids Meteor Shower
The Perseids meteor shower runs from around July 14 to September 1 yearly give or take a day or two in either direction.
Typically my son and I do a lot of campfires during this time because we love watching the Perseids. I think we've done too much fishing and not enough stargazing and may have missed out on the first half. There is still plenty of time between now and September to see the Perseids.
Depending on your kind of camera or video camera, the Perseids can provide incredible photos and video for those who love looking into space. If you use the timelapse feature you can get some really interesting photos and videos as one man did in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Man Captures Amazing Video of Northern Lights and the Perseids Meteor Shower
Once in a while when the conditions are right during the Perseids meteor shower, the Northern Lights are visible and the two together are very magical to witness in the Michigan sky.
A Kalamazoo man, Dan Foley, set up a video camera at the Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery. Foley recorded an amazing video using the timelapse feature of the Northern Lights and the Perseids meteor shower. As you can see from the still above this was an incredible video captured on August 11, 2024. This was the peak time to be looking and Foley got a real gift from Mother Nature but the best way to view is with the video below.
I have watched this half a dozen times and noticed something different each viewing. Notice the reflections of the meteors and the Northern Lights on the water. Nice work Foley!
