Hodges developed software that enables craft breweries and distilleries to transform their wastewater into upcycled products that can be sold. The waste left behind from grains can be sold for animal feed. The software also purifies water, while the extracted particulates can be repurposed as fertilizer for farms, fuel for the biodiesel industry, or feed for cattle, hogs, and chickens.

Hodges has created systems for businesses in the village of Central Lake, Detroit, and Ann Arbor. He has set up his company headquarters in Kalamazoo, and with 12,000 brewers and distillers in the U.S., Hodges hopes to connect 4,000 of them with Meknology.
