Last May we told you that Rockford's Kawa Sushi opened up a new fast-casual restaurant, Kawa Express in Wyoming.

Kawa Sushi Coming to Bridge Street in Grand Rapids

Now, a third Kawa restaurant is joining the culinary scene on Bridge Street in Grand Rapids. The new eatery is located at 315 Bridge St. NW, Suite A, the former home of Maru Sushi, which closed last summer. So if you've been craving Japanese food in the Bridge Street area - this is great news!

The owners describe it as "casual yet sophisticated". At Kawa Sushi Grand Rapids, each dish is prepared from scratch daily, using fresh, top-of-the-line ingredients.

Discover expertly crafted sushi rolls like:

• Angry Wives Roll - Tempura shrimp, jalapeno, avocado, tuna, eel sauce, spicy mayo, sweet mayo, ponzu, potato strings
• Burning Spider Roll - Spicy crab, avocado, cucumber, seared tuna, spicy may, fried onions, ponzu

In addition to sushi, nigiri, and sashimi you'll find appetizers like soy garlic gyoza, crab rangoons, edamame, mini egg rolls, calamari, and more. Soups include organic miso, udon soup, tonkotsu miso ramen, and birria ramen.

When is Kawa Sushi Opening in Grand Rapids?

After placing a call to the restaurant, I found out Kawa Sushi GR on Bridge Street is currently open for takeout only. The grand opening for indoor dining is May 5.  Follow the restaurant on Facebook and Instagram for updates!
