Salt On The Wound: Lions’ Jameson Williams Fined $25,000 AND Loses
After a record-setting season for the Detroit Lions where the team had a franchise-record 15 wins in a season, earned the #1 seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs, were the Super Bowl betting favorites, and were the top-watched team in all the NFL this season.

That is until the Lions played against the Washington Commanders in a high-scoring game full of highlights but ultimately saw the Commanders come out on top, 45-31.

One of those highlights was a touchdown by Jameson Williams, which didn't cost them the game but will cost him a hefty sum of money.
61 Yard Trick Play
The play that resulted in Jameson Williams getting into the end zone came in the 2nd quarter when the Lions were down 24-14 and backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was in for Jared Goff.

Looking to break down the Commander's commanding defense, Ben Johnson pulled out one of his many trick plays. The ball swung from one side of the field to the next, resulting in Williams going 61 yards to the endzone.
Now, please pay attention to his touchdown celebration. While his frontflip into the end zone is more than okay, the pelvic thrusting after that was not OK. The celebration was so disapproving that the portion of his gesture was cut from the NFL's official upload of the play (18-second mark).
A Costly Thrust
The NFL was not happy with the celebration, and Jameson Williams was forced to pay a costly $25,325 fine for the "obscene gesture." Williams also served a 2 game suspension earlier in the season for violating the League's performance-enhancing drug (PED) policy.
Despite these moments, this was Williams' best season in the NFL with career highs in Games Played (15), Receptions (58), Yards (1,001), and Touchdowns (7).
