Yes, you read that headline correctly. In 2025 you're seeing the word "nazi" far more than we as a society should, and now a venue in Detroit is embroiled in controversy after it held a concert with bands associated with "Nazis/Neo-Nazis, white supremacy and/or Nationalist Socialist black metal."

Hosting an event with bands of that merit is not a good look. Still, Harpos Concert Theatre has taken to Instagram to defend itself, explaining the circumstances that led the venue to be "manipulated" into hosting the event.

Harpos Concert Theatre/Blondies

Harpos Concert Theatre/Blondies, located in Detroit's East Side, opened as a movie theater in 1939 and has been a music venue since 1974. It has hosted big-name acts like Iron Maiden, U2, Poison, and more. However, the acts that came on Saturday, January 25th might be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

Owner Krystle Dzajkovska took to Facebook to post a lengthy explanation of the promoter's shady means of operation and how the venue will do better research going forward. According to Dzajkovska, things were a bit fishy from the start. The event organizer explained he tends to sell his tickets for events without disclosing the location until the day of.

The organizer also said he would handle promoting the show, asking Harpos not to promote the show online. Harpos did not suspect the secrecy was related to the band's affiliations with hate groups. For this reason, Harpos was unaware of the material circulating that indicated the concert was not just another show. Shortly after the show started, Harpos learned of the band's twisted beliefs and shut down the show.

Harpos says they do not agree with these groups or what they represent and promises to conduct more rigorous research in the future.

Bands To Watch Out For

The concert, promoted by Fernando Conde and Derek Dibella, was advertised as "A Night of Black Metal and Carnage" and featured the bands Crucifer and Genocidal Rites. In a Reddit post on r/Detroit, user Zestyclose-Slip-8259 made a master post calling out more Neo-Nazi groups in the underground music scene.

This user says that groups who label themselves as "true black metal" or "native" hint to each other the racist ties indirectly. These groups are known for being tied to white supremacy or other forms of hate:

  • Grand Belials Key
  • Crucifer
  • Genocidal Rites
  • Perversion
  • Nocturnal Fear
  • Perdition Temple
  • Volahn
  • Profanatica
  • Baazvlaat
