New Year, New Mattress? Grand Rapids Hosting Free Mattress Recycling Event Coming Up
Mattresses are one of those household items everyone replaces eventually—but then you have to figure out what to do with your old one. They're such a hassle to haul and usually come with disposal fees that make upgrading feel like more trouble than it’s worth.

Maybe a new mattress is on your list for the new year, or you're ready to gear up for spring cleaning. Well, Grand Rapids residents have a simple, free way to get rid of an old mattress or box spring responsibly.
The City of Grand Rapids Department of Public Works is once again teaming up with local business Mattress Shredderz to host a one-day mattress recycling event this spring.
Grand Rapids Spring Mattress Recycling Event
The mattress recycling event will be Saturday, April 11, at the Richmond Park North dirt lot near the intersection of Thornapple Ct NW and Tamarack Ave NW. The event runs from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., or until space fills up.
All mattress and box spring sizes are accepted, from twins to kings.
