Ferris State offers its students interested in fishing an opportunity to compete in fishing tournaments. If this class had been available when I went to college, I would have signed up.

The Ferris State Fishing Club offers those interested in fishing the chance to join a team that competes in tournaments around Michigan and the United States. Tournaments like BASS College Series Midwest Conference, Cabela's Collegiate Series, FLW Northern Region, and Michigan College Bass Circuit. The club is also involved in salmon and ice fishing tournaments.

According to FOX 17, a pair of anglers from West Michigan who are part of the Ferris State Fishing Club have won the College Bass Tour's Anglers of the Year award.

Jordan DeGroot (Coopersville) and Erick Hannahs (Muskegon) are part of the Ferris State University Fishing Club has had a solid season with back-to-back wins on the Grand River and Muskegon Lake and a solid second on Houghton Lake. Hannah did some early scouting on all their tournament lakes which gave them a fin up on the competition.
