Avoid These Mistakes At Michigan Beaches This Summer
West Michigan has some of the best beaches in the entire United States, but there are some things beachgoers wish others wouldn't do.
Why People Go to the Beach
People go to the beach for a variety of reasons, including relaxation, recreation, and appreciation of the natural environment. The beach offers a unique combination of sights, sounds, and sensations that many find appealing and beneficial for both physical and mental well-being.
Going to the beach is a great opportunity for families and friends to come together, cool off from the hot sun, enjoy fun food, and relax in each other’s company.

You have control of the group you bring to the beach, but what you don't have control of is the other people who are there, who don’t care about what they do around others.
Beach Bummers: What Not To Do On Michigan Shores
When you go to a public beach in Michigan, you never know who may set up near you or what they will do. Recently, someone posted on the Muskegon Reddit page about not liking it when people bring music to the beach, and then the messages came in on what people don't want to happen around them.
I am not a big fan of music at the beach unless I'm using earbuds. It's usually country music or music with bad language, and neither one is good for those families on the beach with little kids.
This person doesn't mind the music, but is not happy about the cigarettes. I'm not a fan of any trash on the beach. If you bring it, take it back with you.
I’m okay with pets on leashes, but dogs running free can cause problems.
Out-of-towners sometimes leave trash behind and show self-entitlement
On that note, there are many more posts about playing music on the beach and other things people don’t like, which you can see, or add a comment to here.
