Zippy the dog came calling today.

Yes, Zippy visited with Andy Rent as he talked about her on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Trudy, from the Humane Society of West Michigan, brought Zippy into the studios.

Zippy is a five-month old Lab mix, that needs a good, loving home. She has been neutered, had all her vaccinations, is micro chipped, and ready to find a new home. Trudy said Zippy is a very loving, affectionate dog, and would make any family, with or without children, her family.

According to Dog Time, the Lab's sweet nature makes her an excellent therapy dog, visiting homes for the elderly and hospitals, and her intelligence makes her an ideal assistance dog for the handicapped. She also excels as a search and rescue dog or as a retriever for hunters, thanks to her athletic build, strong nose, and courageous nature. And Labs have also become the breed to beat at dog sports such as agility and obedience competitions — especially obedience.

There's one dog job that Labs are hopeless at: watchdog. In fact, owners say their sweet, helpful Lab is likely to greet an intruder and happily show him where the goods are stashed.

Trudy also said the Humane Society has expanded their hours, and added Sunday's. Along with weekdays and Saturday's, the Humane Society of West Michigan is now open Sunday's from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can get all the information on the Humane Society website or call (616) 453-8900.
