It's Election Day across Michigan in many cities, municipalities and school districts, including the City of Grand Rapids, our news-gathering partner WZZM-13 reports.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. EST this morning and remain open until 8 p.m. EST tonight.

Grand Rapids voters are being asked to approve extending an income tax approved by voters in 2010 for roads, sidewalks and rights-of-way. If approved, the 1.5 percent tax would continue for another 15 years.

Groups for and against the Grand Rapids proposal spent Monday working to urge people to get to the polls and vote.

Also on ballots are school district levy and increases.

West Ottawa Public Schools voters are being asked to consider a $90 million bond proposal, with about $8 million for beefing up security.

WZZM-13 is providing elections results all evening.
