A Wyoming detective who is part of the Kent Area Narcotic Enforcement Team found himself hospitalized Tuesday after he became ill after testing a "white, powdery substance" at the Kent County Sheriff's Department.

It has not been make clear what the substance was, but ZZM reports that the substance was collected Monday "as part of an ongoing investigation."

NARCAN, a drug often used to treat opioid overdose, was administered after the detective began experiencing symptoms conducive with drug exposure.

WZZM reports that the detective was awake and alert.
