Woman’s Resource Center Celebrates 40 Years

This holiday season, the Women's Resource Center brings a close to its 40th anniversary.

During this anniversary year, it served its 40,000th client.

Since it's start, the agency has played a critical role in improving workplaces and economic opportunities for women.

But there is more to be done, as figures show.
• One in four children in Michigan live in poverty, and most of these children live with a single mother.
• The incarceration rate of women in the U.S. has increased, but there are few re-entry sevices designed for these women.
• Women still earn less than men for comparable jobs. Pay equity is not yet a reality.

Through Dec. 31, the Nokomis Foundation is matching donations up to $10,000 for the Women's Resource Center.
