William Shatner sent into space by CBS while other network shows are axed, too!
The sitcom, which was based on the popular Twitter feed by Justin Halpern, debuted to strong ratings last fall, but stumbled as the season progressed. Critics’ reviews, meanwhile, were less than kind.
Also getting the axe: the legal drama ‘The Defenders’ and the new comedy ‘Mad Love,’ co-starring Judy Greer.
Meanwhile, NBC debuted its upcoming fall TV schedule Sunday. Among the highlights: NBC has decided to abandon its six-comedy schedule on Thursdays, instead giving the 10PM time slot to the upcoming ‘Prime Suspect’ reboot, starring Maria Bello.
The network has also decided to dedicate Mondays entirely to singing, with ‘The Sing-Off’ returning in the fall, followed by ‘The Voice’ at midseason. ‘The Voice’ will air from 8-10PM, before the debut of the Steven Spielberg-produced ‘Smash,’ about a group of people trying to put on a Broadway show based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. Emmy winner Debra Messing (‘Will & Grace’) stars.
