Ronald Clark Oman, Sr. and his wife Linda Mae Oman, were born only hours apart at the same hospital, were married for 58 years, and died only three days apart.

Ronald died April 16, Linda died April 19 during her husband's visitation at a local funeral home.

Ron -- also called "Papa Smurf" -- and Linda were born October 14, 1936 at Borgess Medical Center, according to their obituary from Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Directors. Linda was born only two hours before Ron.

They spent their lives in the same area, both graduating from Richland High School in 1954, and then marrying later that summer. Later in their lives, they moved to Kalamazoo.

They had nine children together -- five daughters, four sons. All nine of their kids were there when Linda passed away on Thursday.

For 25 years, Linda worked for the Gull Lake Community Schools, while Ron was a machinist who spent 10 years with the Stryker Corporation.

On Wednesday, a memorial service for the Omans was held and the couple was buried soon after at a Richland cemetary.

Memorials in their honor may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice Care of Southwestern Michigan.
