The West Michigan Chalk Art Festival returns to Tanger Outlets in Byron Township this weekend!

Whether you're looking for an excuse to shop or a fun activity to keep the kids busy this summer, the West Michigan Chalk Art Festival can help.

The festival includes a competition, but there are options for kids too. Kids 11 and under can participate in a free chalk event on Saturday, June 16, from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Chalk will be provided.

The best way to enjoy the festival is to come each day. On Friday, you'll see artists beginning to create their work starting at noon. All entries are supposed to be completed for judging by 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

It's fun to see the difference from one day to the next. Some artists will be completely done on Friday. Some will be working up to the last second on Saturday.

Everyone is invited to participate in the festival and compete for up to $1,000. Registration costs start at $30 - $45. Space is limited.

Awards will be given by judges in multiple categories.

  • Adult: $1000, $500, $250 and $100
  • Youth: $100, $50 and $25
  • Best Team/Family: $100

  • Best Photo Rendition: $100
  • Most Humorous: $100
  • Best Use of Color: $100

There will also be a People's Choice winner of $500 awarded by public vote.
