Pope Benedict XVI stepped down as leader of the Roman Catholic Church today.

Catholics in West Michigan gathered in Pope Benedict XVI's honor this afternoon as Grand Rapids Diocese Bishop Walter Hurley presided over Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew.

Over 100 gathered at the Mass at 12:05pm this afternoon.  The Mass was also streamed online.

At 2:00pm, the bells of Catholic churches throughout the diocese rang to mark the end of the papacy of Pope Benedict XVI.
