A local DJ wants to host dances on the Blue Bridge in Grand Rapids this summer, but he can't afford the equipment and security.

That's where you can help.

Steve Zaagman has reserved the permits needed to put together some dance parties on the Blue Bridge and the Gillette Bridge this spring and summer. However, while he's willing to donate his time, he needs some help to accomplish his goal.

Introducing the first ever Dance Over the Grand River Series. Whether you are a dancer yourself and want to see this happen, love grand rapids and want to see more events, or a parent who believes there needs to be more safe, fun things, for their kids to do then please give.

"We are trying to raise money for the speaker system and the extra security costs to hold between 8-12 dances in the summer.

"We have successfully run over 400 dance parties over the course of 10 years, but the bridges require a unique speaker challenge that we are not currently equiped [sic] to handle."

Zaagman, who operates Zaagman Video Productions and is creative news director and a reporter at WZZM-13, is trying to raise $4,000 to buy speakers and pay for the security for the events.

He has staged swing dances at Rosa Parks Circle and the Grand Rapids Downtown Market in the past.
