Carli Lloyd scored the only goal of the game early in the second half, and the United States beat China, 1-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Ottawa, Canada on Friday night. The victory allowed the Americans to advance to the semifinals, where they will face top-ranked Germany on Tuesday.

U.S. goalie Hope Solo was once again impenetrable in net. She has not allowed a goal since the first half of the USWNT’s match against Australia on June 8 — a span of four and a half matches.

The Americans topped China despite playing without Megan Rapinoe and Lauren Holiday, each of whom were suspended for receiving multiple yellow cards during the tournament. Both Rapinoe and Holiday are expected to be in uniform when the U.S. faces the Germans in Montreal on Tuesday.

Germany advanced by defeating France, 5-4 on penalty kicks, earlier on Friday.
