Today I learned about a website called edX.org thanks to Michigan Radio's Facebook page.  The post showcased a class that the University of Michigan is offering online this Friday, April 21st.  The class is a primer on how to distinguish fake news from real news.  The class is called "Fake News, Facts, and Alternative Facts" and will be taught by 3 professors from U of M.  The class is completely free to take and will last about 3-4 hours.

According to edX.org, you'll learn how to:

  • Distinguish between “news” and other forms of information
  • Evaluate the credibility of information claims
  • Identify psychological biases and logical fallacies that influence how we interpret information
  • Critically examine a news story and identify how it was produced

You can even order a Verification Certificate from the website after completing a course to show the knowledge you gained.
