Eric Geister and Chris Jammer are sitting on top of Olivera’s Sports Pub and Grill in Ionia for 55 hours for the Roofsit 4 Warmth.

They are raising money for EightCAP to help families in Gratiot, Ionia, Isabella and Montcalm counties stay warm this winter.

The Roofsit 4 Warmth began at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21 and will end at 6:00 p.m. today. That's 55 hours in the cold.

Geister and Jammer are members of the IUE-CWA Local 84436. Their goal is to raise $8,443.60 for EightCAP's Walk for Warmth campaign. This is the first year of the roofsit. They plan to make the roofsit an annual event.

All funds raised will be matched by Consumers Energy.

“There are a lot of people at our factory who have hit hard times but are too proud to ask for assistance. This is a way to funnel money into our community and to help those in need,” said Geister.

A total of $3,761 had been raised as of 9:11 this morning.
