Trixie the Chihuahua visited our studios today.

Trixie visited with Andy Rent as he talked about him on his Andy in the Morning show for Wet Nose Wednesday.

Tammy, from the Humane Society of West Michigan, brought Trixie into the studios.

Trixie is a 1-year old Chihuahua-Terrier mix, who came to the Humane Society via a She has been spayed, has had all her vaccinations and is micro-chipped. Trixie is ready for a good, loving home.

According to the American Kennel Club, Chihuahuas are alert dogs with terrier-like qualities. They are good with families if the children are gentle and patient. Because of their small size, they require little exercise and are good city dogs, but can be sensitive to cold temperatures.

Michigan artist, Weatherly Stroh, has partnered with the Humane Society to create a work for ArtPrize. Named "300," it's hosted by the Richard App Gallery at the City Water Building on North Monroe.

Weatherly said 300 is an average number of animals the Michigan Humane Society has in their care each day and this mosaic of oil painting portraits hopes to generate awareness of the sheer number of animals needing adoption in Michigan and the United States.

You can join Weatherly and Humane Society staff at a "Yappy Hour" reception tomorrow evening from 4 to 7 pm at the App Gallery in the City Water Building.
