Traveling north during the summer in Michigan is hard enough, but it's about to get even more difficult.

There will be a total closure on northbound US-131 in Mecosta County from August 9 - 14.

The Michigan Department of Transportation reports that northbound US-131 will close over 3 Mile Road at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 9 through 9:00pm on Thursday, August 14.

The road will be closed to demolish and remove the old bridge, and move a new bridge into place.

The new bridge will be open to traffic starting Thursday evening

Detour: Exit Northbound US-131 at Jefferson Road (Exit 125) and head east to Northland Drive then north to 8 Mile Road and west to northbound US-131.

Also be aware that Northland Drive is closed for a county project between Pierson (Exit 114) and Howard City (Exit 118).

Good luck.
