When my mom and dad come into town there are a few things that always work. First of all they usually come in on Saturday and stay overnight till Sunday, Mother's Day. Without a doubt The Fredrik Meijer Garden is always an enjoyable experience for mom,dad and the kids.

If you've ever listened to me on the air you know there is one place my mom and dad always want to visit when they come in for Mother's Day and Father's Day and that place would be The Omelette Shoppe in Breton Village. They are all good but Breton Village has a special feel to it! I like to get the East Or West German Omelette. Come with an appatite because there is alot of food!

Now I've never done this one before but have heard nothing but good things about San Chez "A Tapas Bistro". If your mom is not into the traditional maybe do something a little cutting edge for her. How about a Mother's Day "Tapas Style"??? They are doing three sittings and you can call 774-8272 to make a reservation.

My mom and dad are not as adventurous as some so they pretty much like to stick with a good thing once they've found it. Plus they are pretty simple people and don't like to go "all out!". BUT Josh from grNow.com, LOVES to do it up right with his wife and their new baby Eliot. I think he was telling me they did the Amway Grand for Easter and will be doing it again from Mom's Day. You could do the whole spa package for mom or just the Mother's Day Brunch. Regardless, the ambience at the Amway Grand is spectacular any day!

My mom is pretty health conscious too so after a big Mother's Day meal the last thing she wants to do is sit around. So we end up going for a neighborhood walk or bike ride. Usually we drive out to Reed's Lake in East Grand Rapids and just enjoy the people watching and scenery.

What would Mother's Day be without a big bouquet of flowers, of course, for my mom she prefers the planter kind that just keeps living. Alway a safe bet to head out to Eastern Floral on Broadmoor for a gorgeous "Mum" planter for "Mum", or should I saw mom.

How about making a handmade card for mom and then taking her to a Whitecaps game. Be sure she eats well, and get her one of those 5 pound burgers;) Best part is Pink T-shirts will be given away to the first 1,000 fans! Plus it's, FAMILY DAY! That means the first 1,000 kids 12 and under eat free at the ballpark! Get some autographs & play catch on the field before the game.
