Today is National Donut Day and Free Donuts

Today is National Donut Day, and you can get a free donut!

It all began when the Salvation Army celebrated the first National Donut Day in 1938 to help those in need during the Great Depression and to commemorate the work of the “Donut Lassies” who served donuts to soldiers during World War I.

Now, we celebrate around the country, with the Salvation Army continuing to remember and honor the work done by those "donut lassies." They even brought Krispy Kreme donuts to our studios for our staff, that is if they make it out of the studio.

You can get a free donut today as some special places. I don't know if many of our home-grown local shops are having specials, but I know a few.

Krispy Kreme is offering a free doughnut to all guests, with no purchase necessary.

Dunkin’ Donuts is offering a free classic Donut with the purchase of any beverage all day.

Papa John's will give all online orders a free order of Papa John’s hot Donut Holes today.

Edible Arrangements has launched the new Edible Donuts made with granny smith apples, chocolate and a variety of toppings. Today, you can get a free doughnut and from June 2-6 any size or combo is buy-one-get-one free.

Walmart will give one free glazed doughnut at all Walmart stores today.
