Titanic’s “A Night to Remember” Dinner Party at Public Museum
Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition, opened to the public on Saturday, February 9th, and, already, many have enjoyed an up-close look at over 150 artifacts recovered from the Ships debris field. The stories these artifacts tell, along with exact replicas of First Class and Third Class cabins, the luxury and lore of the Ship, make a wonderful experience.
On Thursday, February 21, 2013 the Grand Rapids Public Museum will be hosting a special party paying tribute to Titanic and celebrating the kick-off of the exhibitions’ run here in Grand Rapids.
The party, “A Night to Remember: A Tribute to Titanic” will be an extension of the exhibition experience. A cocktail hour starts the festivities, followed by a tapas-style strolling dinner. Items from first, second and third class menus from Titanic will be served including: Atlantic salmon with mousseline sauce, roasted squab with plum sauce and watercress, mini rabbit pie with wild mushrooms and cider, and Waldorf pudding with apples and walnuts – to name a few.
Visitors will have a chance to socialize in the Parisian Café, and sip bourbon and pick up a hand-rolled cigar in the Gentlemen’s Smoking Room (no smoking in the museum of course). There will be a silent auction as well, and to see the list of auctions items, just visit www.grmuseum.org.
All guests will tour the exhibition during the party, and even have a chance to meet
Captain Smith, Molly Brown and other passengers from Titanic.
