There's gold.  There's silver.  There's bronze.  And then there's fourth place.  What do you get for fourth place?  Aluminum foil?

The River took fourth place at Food For Families Supermarket Sweep on Thursday.  Fourth place is a mighty fine finish, even if we didn't bring home a fancy trophy.  What we DID do was collect A LOT of food for West Michigan families.

Now we need your help.

Supermarket Sweep brought together a total of 13 teams including multiple radio stations, WZZM 13, and Access of West Michigan.  Teams competed to see who could gather the most food in a crazy 5-minute dash through the Gaines Township Family Fare.

After multiple shopping cart crashes, lots of trash talking, and at least one slippery spill WZZM was declared the winner. The River was the top placing radio station with a fourth place finish.

Food For Families runs through Monday, June 18.  All food collected will go to hungry families in West Michigan.  In addition to non-perishable food items, we are also looking for household products and personal care items.
