I hate Mosquitoes. They're pesky, they bite, suck your blood, and make you itch.

While working in the yard this weekend planting flowers and killing weeds, I was swarmed by the pesky insect, so I quickly grabbed the Cutters and sprayed my self like there was no tomorrow.  It worked.  Not a bite.  They couldn't find me.

When my wife got home I told her what I had done.  Big mistake.  Kathy is earth mother, 2013!  According to her, I had done a horrible thing by spraying myself with poison.  Myself, not a problem because I don't have any bites and I got all the flowers planted.  The house looks so much better, and I'm very proud.

Okay, we have this mini-spat about bug spray, so I decide to look up if there is anything else I could have done instead of using that wonderful spray that kept me safe.

Turns out there are several options.  Let me start with Garlic.  If I had eaten lots of garlic, and rubbed it all over myself, I not only could repel vampires but mosquitoes as well.  Probably people, as well.  So, I continued my search.

Now I'm on to something else, because if I would only build a Bat House I could rid my yard of mosquitoes, too.  Bats can eat up to 3,000 mosquitoes a night, so if I could attract a colony, I could get rid of my favorite insect.  Uh.....I don't really want to have a bunch of Bats living at my house.  It's not big enough for the both of us.  So, I search again.

Then I find I should have been planting certain plants around my house to repel mosquitoes.  Basil is good, as well as Lemongrass, Citronella Plant/Grass, Rosemary, Catnip, Steward the Cat will love this, Marigolds, Garlic, and Tansies.

Well, since all the flooding we had a few weeks ago has brought on this invasion, it's too late to do any of the above plantings right now, and the mosquitoes are getting worse.

My gosh, when I walk the dog the mosquitoes carry us around the block, so,it's  back to Cutters.  Ah, at least now I'm a walking-repellant and I'm not getting bitten.

Anyway, the mosquitoes will die-off in another week or two, so I'll just walk faster the spray often!

What about you?  Do you have any good ideas?  Let me know and we'll share them on the air.
