The Grand Rapids Public Museum’s (GRPM) 2015 Mighty Wurlitzer Organ Concert Series continues on April 16 & 17 with performances by David Russell featuring songs from  George Gershwin, Scott Joplin, and Irving Berlin.

David Russell, a Grand Rapids native, boasts a long and accomplished career as an organist, starting his organ studies with Mr. Ron Walls at 14 years old. After studying classical organ at Grand Valley State University, David was introduced to the Theater Organ style at Roaring 20’s Pizza, the Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Organ’s previous home.

He later became the co-headlining organist at Roaring 20’s, as well as performing other concerts throughout the upper Midwest. Russell has since worked as the Executive Director of a retirement community and the Director of Music Education at Jenkin’s Music Company. He has established himself as one of the top instructors in the region, having students go on to achieve prizes and national titles in music.

Organ Concerts will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 and at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17 in the Meijer Theater at the GRPM. Tickets for individual concerts are $10 for the general public, $8 for Museum members, and $5 for children 17 and under. Tickets bought in blocks of 10 or more are $8 each.
