Concert mainstay The Intersection has expanded its facilities, opening two new venues in their Grandville Street location. From its roots as an Eastown bar to its pedigree as a concert venue pushing the envelope on new and local acts, The Intersection has always meant live music in Grand Rapids, and with its recent renovation, that means more seats and more concerts for downtown.

In addition to its 1500 seat main stage and its 400 seat intimate front venue (The Stache), The Intersection will open two new concert venues.

In what was formerly the building's basement will be an 800 seat venue called Elevation. And they are also adding a VIP section which will host after parties and meet-and-greet events called The Mint.

“It’s a big year for The Intersection, because we’re growing,” Intersection talent-buyer and co-owner Scott Hammontree told the local entertainment guide Revue. “We’re taking a big swing, (with) four venues under one roof and what that takes to run and operate and manage and produce.”

Acts which will appear in the new spaces have yet to be determined, but will be released shortly.

Hammontree did tell the Revue that Elevation will officially open this month with North Carolina band Papadosio and local artist Desmond Jones on the docket St. Patrick's night, March 17.
