The Grand Rapids Griffin's will turn "Purple" Saturday night with the first "Purple Game," as they join the fight against cancer.

The Griffin's are partnering with the VAI, Van Andel Institute, to raise money for cancer research.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, the Griffins will host a “purple game” against Peoria with all of the funds raised going directly to laboratory research for cancer at Van Andel Institute. Van Andel Arena will be decked in purple, with a purple t-shirt on 10,000 seats.  The staff will be decked out in purple polo shirts,  the Griffins will wear purple jerseys,  and rally towel's will be given away at the gate.  They'll even have purple cotton candy and other purple concessions.

I hope you like purple!  At any rate, Saturday night at the arena will be a time for all of us to become 'purple' for one night and support the fight against cancer, and, pull for a Griffin's win!
