I rode my mountain bike to work this morning. 4:30 in the morning, Grand Rapids is quiet and cool. The blue lights running the middle length of the 30 or so stories of the J.W. Marriott hotel is like a beacon guiding me to the radio station. Part of the ride takes me along the riverfront and front fountains of the Gerald Ford Museum. The museum is open 24 / 7 this week, as we prepare for the arrival of the body of former First Lady Betty Ford. The new sculpture of president Ford was unveiled yesterday and looks great.

A private funeral service will take place in California today. Then her body will be flown to Michigan where, tomorrow evening, Ford will lie in repose at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. In the meantime, the museum will remain open for 24-hours a-day to allow mourners to sign a condolence book. On Thursday Betty Ford will be buried next to her husband, President Gerald R. Ford on the grounds of the museum. Ford passed away last week at the age of 93.
